Question:
Is maternity covered under health insurance?
Answer
Maternity coverage depends on:
- Updating marital status to “Married” in the insurer’s system and might require a valid marriage certificate as the proof.
- Mandatory in Abu Dhabi and Dubai (DOH & DHA), yes, maternity is covered.
- In Northern Emirates, some individual plans may not cover maternity.
- For Daman Abu Dhabi Basic, maternity can be added mid-term if marriage occurs after policy start, or at renewal if marriage date is before policy inception.
The policy waiting period will be applied as per the emirate of residence, policy terms and conditions.
