Health insurance plans in the UAE generally do not cover travel expenses as part of their standard coverage. However, certain comprehensive health insurance plans offer coverage for emergency medical expenses incurred during international trips.

In contrast, travel insurance plans are designed to provide coverage specifically when the policyholder is on a trip outside of the UAE. These plans offer benefits like emergency medical expenses as well as travel-specific covers such as trip cancellation/interruption, and lost/delayed baggage while the insured is traveling abroad.

Health insurance and travel insurance serve different purposes and have distinct scopes of coverage. Policyholders cannot rely solely on their regular UAE health plan to provide protection when they are frequently traveling internationally.
